Postdoc Appreciation Week: Research road bumps? You’re not alone

As part of the Postdoc Appreciation Week – Germany, the SFB1551 together with the IMB Postdoc Programme (IPPro) and the SFB1361 at the Institute of Molecular Biology, are organising an on-site event on 22 September 2026
“Research road bump? You’re not alone.”
“Failed grant applications? That paper you worked so long on got rejected? Or you did not get that position you applied for? Join us to learn from our speakers how they have dealt with their failures! Listen to their stories of rejected grants, wrong hiring choices and other setbacks in their academic journeys, and reflect on the lessons they learnt from them. Our event is open to all postdocs and staff scientists in Mainz who want to discuss and explore how research road bumps can become a point of progress instead of an obstacle to their careers. Lunch will be served.”
Confirmed speakers
- Prof. Rene Ketting, Scientific Director, Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) Mainz
- Prof. Helen May-Simera, Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) Mainz
This is an open event and external participants are welcome. However, registration is required.
