This year, the SFB1551 sponsored the attendance of Christina Chatzichrysou, a graduate student from Greece, to attend the International Summer School (ISS) at the IMB! As an ISS student, Christina spent 6 weeks (from 12 August to 20 September 2024) working on a research project. She was hosted by the Wittmann Lab where, besides carrying out her own project, she became fully integrated into the lab life, participating in lab meetings and journal clubs.
Sina Wittmann briefly describes Christina’s Summer Research Project:
“Our ISS student Christina Chatzichrysou is trying to understand the oligomeric sate of transcription factors in solution and under what condition they may form small clusters. To do so, she will purify a transcription factor and, if successful, do a biophysical characterisation of the sample. If we have enough time, we can continue with classical phase separation assays. This will serve as a starting point for more sophisticated experiments later on with which we want to understand cluster formation on DNA.“
The SFB1551 is grateful to Christina for her research contributions within the SFB1551 project at the Wittmann Lab and also appreciates the effort and dedication of Sina Wittmann in providing this great opportunity!
